Wednesday, February 16, 2011 a group of "Checker Players" visited Wade Holder at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center on 2300 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301  910-488-2120.  Wade is in room 316 in the NC Veterans Nursing Home, a hospice & palliative care facility which is behind the main hospital 910-482-4131. This is a very nice place considering the circumstances, and our tax dollars well spent. If you want to send him a letter or card, address it to: Wade Holder, NC Veterans Nursing Home, 214 Cochran Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28301.  Wade has pancreatic cancer. He was happy to see us and we shared old pictures, memories of players, and the good times we have had playing checkers. We closed our visit with prayer and Wade witnessed to us that Jesus Christ has the power to forgive sins (Mark 2) and give eternal life (John 3; 10; 17; & 3:16), BibleGateway.com, listen to or read these 4 chapters and verse in your preferred version (6 choices), it will take only a few minutes.  Wade's death-bed wish is that everyone should know about the important acceptance of the Savior's plan of Salvation. Below are several pictures which are identified in their file name.

Sunday, February 20, 2011 Larry Pollard drove up from Brilliant, AL to see his friend Wade.  Larry called me Saturday evening and told me he was on his way up and probably would spend the night in Columbia and finish driving in Sunday. Clint and I decided we would also drive down Sunday and visit with Larry and Wade.  Wade was happy to see us and we shared Christian fellowship, although Wade's condition is terminal he continues to hang in there.

Saturday, 3/5/2011  Most of the TN players took time to signed the inspirational cards to Wade Holder which I will hand deliver when I see him again.

Friday, 3/18/2011 Teal Stanley and I visited Wade, delivering the cards and the TN Open results but gave these things to his daughter Karen because Wade's condition was so that he was not able to know or talk to us.  We did spend some time with Karen and her father-in-law Ken Robertson. She and David live in Zebulon, NC.
